Removal of Brampton Lay-By
The works were undertaken on behalf of Northumberland County Council and involved the removal of a lay by and the provision of a grassed hard stand area for works vehicles. To facilitate the works, the existing asphalt surface had to be planed down and the existing kerbs broken out and drainage moved to the edge of the carriageway.
New kerbs were installed including a dropped section for access by works vehicles and holes punched through the remaining asphalt to allow drainage through the fill material. Grass mats were installed over the vehicle access area to form a hardstand and still enable grass to grow. Finally, the whole area was covered with topsoil to be seeded with grass seed.
