Concrete Repairs at Invista
INVISTA (previously know as DuPont Textiles & Interiors ) is one of the world's largest integrated fibers and polymers businesses with a global presence. A recent £multi million modernisation project at their European plant, based at the Wilton International site on Teesside, has ensured the operation to be amongst the most competitive sites in the world, boasting the lowest environmental impact of any commercial KA (Ketone Alcohol) processors.
The site is a highly complex integrated manufacturing chain, in which INVISTA is making significant ongoing investments to drive continuous manufacturing improvement and to help grow its global Intermediates business. They produce nylon chemical intermediate, nylon salt and nylon polymer which can be found in such products as carpets, rugs, clothes and tyre reinforcements.
Extent of Works
After carrying out a survey of the effluent drainage system, INVISTA discovered significant acid damage to the drainage channels with the danger of chemicals leaking into the ground.
St Astier’s brief was to repair the concrete and line the trenches with Sika acid resistant materials during a six week plant shutdown. Despite adverse weather conditions, the work was completed on time allowing the plant to re-start production.
